Who we are

RaceRanks (nwraceranks.ukroadraces.co.uk) is operated jointly by UK Road Races and Lancaster Race Series. If you have any question about your data or this policy, contact us at steve@runpreston.com.

What personal data we hold

For each runner who appears on this site, we may hold: first name, surname, date of birth, sex, club affiliation, and race results (position, finish time, category) from races covered by our affiliated organisers.

Where this data comes from

We do not collect data directly from runners through this website — there is no sign-up, account, or registration process for the public site. This data is originally submitted by the runner themselves when entering a race, typically through a third-party entry platform (such as Bookitzone, LetsDoThis, or similar). Date of birth is asked for at entry specifically because it's needed to place runners into the correct age category — the same practice used by other race ranking sites and race organisers generally. Once a race has taken place, official timing records (via Shoestring Race Results and similar systems) are supplied to us by race organisers so results can be published.

How we use it

Data submitted at race entry is used for race purposes only — placing runners in the correct category and publishing accurate results. We do not use this data to contact runners or to solicit anything — no marketing, no promotional emails, no third-party sharing for commercial purposes. Date of birth is used only internally, to accurately match a runner's results across multiple races and to calculate a fair age-category for display. Date of birth is never shown publicly anywhere on this site — only a derived age-category (e.g. "V45") is displayed, consistent with how race results have traditionally been published, and consistent with what a runner already agrees to when submitting this information at entry. Name, club, category, and race results are displayed publicly, in keeping with the long-standing, industry-wide practice of publishing race results openly (the same approach used by other race ranking sites).

How long we keep it

Race results are kept indefinitely as a historical record, in the same way results have traditionally remained publicly accessible on race organisers' own websites and in published results archives.

Your rights

If you'd like to see what data we hold about you, correct an error, or request that your results be removed from public display, contact steve@runpreston.com. We're open to any reasonable request to have your information removed, and will action this promptly.

Cookies

Browsing this site as a member of the public does not set any cookies. Cookies are used only for administrator login on the site's management area, which the public cannot access.
